The Car Scene

So today, as planned, we decided to film the long awaited scenes we needed of Janadhi running behind a car. We needed the car in order to shoot the scenes due to how much smoother and simpler it would be, as if we had filmed her running without the car, we would also have had to be running backwards. This would have been too complicated and someone (Kelly) would have probably fallen over. The car also made the shots a lot more smoother than they otherwise would be, which was essential in order to maintain a professional look throughout the video.
In addition to the health hazard, we would be able to create a variety of complicated shots, such as the panning shot we captured from the ground to Janadhi running. Using the car made the pan so much smoother and cleaner than it would have been if we had filmed it by hand.

In all, we're really pleased how these shots came out, and are probably our favourite shots out of the whole video! They've made it look a lot more refined, and given us the professional edge we wanted.

Digipak and Magazine advertisement editing pt. 3

After creating the main elements of my digipak, I decided to implement them when creating my magazine advert. The key features that I ensured I copied for my magazine advertisement were:
a) Colour palette
b) Imagery (Portrait image, tree image duplicated)
c) Font

It was important to make sure these elements matched, as otherwise the two would look very unprofessional together. In addition to this, I think together they all look much sleeker when they have a element which links them all, and therefore are much more aesthetically pleasing.
I'm really happy with how they're both progressing, and I think the finished products will soon be up!

Filming the letter scene

One of the scenes we still hadn't shot as a group was the scene of a letter coming through the door in order to allow the audience to know that our protagonist had been accepted into the army. We decided to shoot it today at Holly's house, which we felt was the best setting as it looked the most realistic and was easily accessible for all of us.

Editing the digipak pt. 2

Again in order to tie in with the indie genre, I decided to include the vocalist on the front of the digipak, even though he wasn't present for the actual music video. I think this will again make the digipak more professional, as it gives the artist a face that the music video doesn't show, due to it being strictly a narrative video. I decided to make this black and white as well, as it will blend nicer with the rest of the digipak.

Deciding on the font was a big thing for me when creating my digipak, as it had to hold an edge that you would manly find in indie music products. Using website 'DaFont', I found a font called 'Neou', which I think is perfect for my digipak, as it feels quite edgy and fits with the photography of my digipak.

Editing the digipak pt. 1

In order to tie together the music video, the digipak and the magazine advertisement, I've decided to still focus on the imagery of nature, which played an important role in our music video. I've incorporated this into my digipak by using a shot of the trees that I took while filming the running shots for my video, however to conform to the indie genre I decided to change it to black and white. Although we didn't use a black and white colour scheme for the music video, I feel that the digipak will look much more professional, as most real digipaks are not strongly linked to just one music video and therefore changing the photo to black and white made it much more universal for the rest of the videos we would later produce.
